1.Press the eject button to release the filter from the base grille.
2.Pull the filter straight out.
3.Turn the cap counterclockwise to remove it from the filter.
IMPORTANT: Do not discard the cap. It is part of your
refrigerator. Keep the cap to use with the replacement filter.
4.Align the ridge on the cap with the arrow on the new filter and turn the cap until it snaps into place.
NOTE: You can run the dispenser without a filter. Your water will not be filtered. Simply insert the cap all of the way into the base grille and rotate the cap until it is firmly in place.
5.Remove the protective covers from the O-rings. Be sure the O-rings are still in place after the covers are removed.
6.Push the filter into the base grille. The eject button will pop back out when the filter is fully engaged.
7.Run water from the dispenser for 5 minutes at .5 gpm (about 2½ gallons) to clear the system and prevent sputtering.
NOTE: Initial rate may be slower than expected. Full rate should be restored within 24-36 hours
8.Reset the “replace filter” light, if needed, by holding the reset button for three seconds.

I've purchased a few of these and they have always been great. The water tastes fresh and clean every time and seems to do well with filtering the typical bad-tasting city water.
The packaging mentions you are supposed to run about 4 gallons through it before drinking anything from it. I'm guessing some of the people complaining about the plastic taste is not flushing it properly. It takes a rather long time to flush 4 gallons through the filter by hand. It takes about 10 and a half minutes for four gallons to run through it. I recommend calculating the flow rate of your fridge before attempting this method as I'm sure it is different per fridge.

Cheap but work as adverised
As with any water filter replacement, be sure to bleed out all the air after installation.
It usually takes a couple gallons before the spurting subsides. To check for post-install leaks, I leave a cup under the dispenser and a dry paper towel under the fridge, directly below the filter, for at least a day after each replacement. Never had a leak yet, but with hardwood floors, I'd rather be over-cautious than surprised. There is no odd taste when the filter is first installed either.
Overall, an easy 5 stars as it earns it.

fit to Maytag refrigerator.
I've used all 3 from the pack without problems.
Now it's time to renew my order.
Please recycle!
They arrived in time, packed each one separately.

Today, I popped this one into the refrigerator, ran about 4 gallons through it and the water tastes as it is expected . If anything should change, I will update this review accordingly. Otherwise, this is the model I will be sticking with.

Update: Just installed my second one of these filters. No noticeable odor or taste issues. I will continue ordering every 6 months until I have an issue.
Original review: I finally gave up trying to find the old expensive filters and
ordered one of these Clatterans filters. I had concerns about the taste. But after a few day’s use, I’m happy to report that I have had no issues and the filter works just like the original one. Before use, I filled the bottle 2 more times to flush any remaining stuff out. My first glass of water was clear and tasted good. I highly recommend you do the same thing like me before you drink water from the newly unboxed filter.

There is nothing wrong with this filter. I flushed it four gallons as stated on the instructions. That's a lot but, ok, I'll do it. Water tastes fine with no odor.
How often should you replace your water filter?
- On average, most filters last 6 months or 300 gallons depending on your water quality and usage.
How do I turn off my filter light to reset?
- If the filter light will not reset after following specific instructions from your owner manual, contact your refrigerator manufacturer.
Do the gaskets (o-rings) on the filters need to be lubricated?
- Most water filters come with pre-lubricated O-rings
- If you are having trouble installing the filter, we have found that a small amount of vegetable oil applied to the O-ring will ease installation and removal of the filter.
I just installed my filter; do I need to run water through it before I drink the water? If so, how much?
- You should run 3 gallons of water through your filter in order to flush it and make sure that it is thoroughly wet. Do not run the 3 gallons continuously, instead run the water for a few minutes and stop in between. Get a gallon water container, and pour and refill 3 times!
