1.Locate the accessory packet in the refrigerator and remove the water filter.
2.Take the water filter out of its packaging and remove the cover from the O-rings. Be sure the O-rings are still in place after the cover is removed.
NOTE: There may be some water in the filter. Some spilling may occur. Use a towel to wipe up any spills.
3.Align the arrow on the water filter label with the cutout notch in the filter housing and insert the filter into the housing.
4.Turn the filter clockwise until it locks into the housing.
NOTE: If the filter is not correctly locked into the housing, the water dispenser will not operate. Water will not flow from the dispenser.
5.While the compartment door is still open, lift the filter up into the compartment. Then, close the filter compartment door completely.
6.Run water from the dispenser for 5 minutes at .5 gpm (about 2½ gallons) to clear the system and prevent sputtering.
NOTE: Initial rate may be slower than expected. Full rate should be restored within 24-36 hours
7.Reset the “replace filter” light, if needed, by holding the reset button for three seconds.

We order the filter when our refrigerator told us to do it, and we put it in a couple of weeks later when the refrigerator told us it was time to replace it. So far, so good. My goodness! What have we become?

The water comes out kind of cloudy, from little bubbles in the filter process, but the cloudiness goes away within seconds. I was concerned the filter may not work as well, since it was filtering water faster, but a couple of people in the family actually get sore stomachs from unfiltered water here, so we know when the filters aren't working. There are no sore stomachs with this filter so we are very happy with the results.

I bought this product to replace the one my fridge came with. I later noticed there are a lot of cheaper alternatives out there. This product works as described and does a good job. The price is why it gets a 4 star instead of a 5-star review.

Replacement for another filter ordered from on-line. The previous one left a chemical taste in the filtered water. This one has no such issues.

Installation was a breeze, and this is a way better deal (and way more convenient) than a trip to a B&M store to buy one of these. Love having pure water, and the better price makes the every-6-month-change-thing easier to swallow.

I've shopped several places for the filter for my Whirlpool Refrigerator. After finding Clatterans, they make it easy to shop and the prices are great. This is much easier (and better prices!) Than Amazon. I'm a repeat buyer and highly recommend Clatterans.
Common Water Filter Questions
How often should you replace your water filter?
- On average, most filters last 6 months or 300 gallons depending on your water quality and usage.
How do I turn off my filter light to reset?
- If the filter light will not reset after following specific instructions from your owner manual, contact your refrigerator manufacturer.
Do the gaskets (o-rings) on the filters need to be lubricated?
- Most water filters come with pre-lubricated O-rings
- If you are having trouble installing the filter, we have found that a small amount of vegetable oil applied to the O-ring will ease installation and removal of the filter.
I just installed my filter; do I need to run water through it before I drink the water? If so, how much?
- You should run 3 gallons of water through your filter in order to flush it and make sure that it is thoroughly wet. Do not run the 3 gallons continuously, instead run the water for a few minutes and stop in between. Get a gallon water container, and pour and refill 3 times!
