1.Turn Off the ice maker and remove the filter by pushing on the end/face of the filter.
2.Slide the old water filter cartridge straight out of the housing and discard it.
3.Unpackage the new filter cartridge. Using the alignment guide, slide it gently into the filter housing until it stops against the snap-in connector at the back of the housing.
4.Turn the filter clockwise until it locks into the housing.
NOTE: If the filter is not correctly locked into the housing, the water dispenser will not operate.
Water will not flow from the dispenser.
5.Push firmly until the cartridge snaps into place
(you should hear a click as the cartridge engages the snap-in connector).
6.Run water from the dispenser for 5 minutes at.5 gpm (about 2½ gallons) to clear the system and prevent sputtering.
NOTE: Initial rate may be slower than expected. Full rate should be restored within 24-36 hours
7.Reset the “replace filter" light, if needed, by holding the reset button for three seconds.

Our refrigerator water dispenser was making a weird noise and getting this new filter solved the problem. Seems to fit fine. Will order the Kenmore 9991 filter from this provider. And hope no breakage of the package.

These Kenmore Filters arrived quickly maybe even a day early. They fit my GE and no leaks. Water tastes the same as my last official filter.

The GE Smart Water filter from Clatterans is fantastic! It works just as well as the high priced brand name filter we were using before. I was able to get a case of 3 filters for less money than I would have paid for 1 brand name GE filter. Excellent quality, will buy again when needed!

Have owned this Kenmore 469991 replacement filter for all of 48 hours. Install was a breeze, and I followed the included direction and disposed the first 3-4 gallons of water (water the plants, LOLL) It's working as expected up to this point.

Great GE GWF filter for our new refrigerator and will definitely order again. The water tastes great! Even my mother in law who is picky and only prefers bottled water loves the water that comes from this filter!! :) Less expensive will better.

As far as I can see this product – Kenmore 9991 does exactly what it should at a much better price than the alternatives. Nobody has complained about any change in taste in the water. The product arrived on time, fitted perfectly and I can't fault the manufacturer for their follow up emails - they are taking a real interest. I will re-order when I need a new filter
How often should you replace your water filter?
- On average, most filters last 6 months or 300 gallons depending on your water quality and usage.
How do I turn off my filter light to reset?
- If the filter light will not reset after following specific instructions from your owner manual, contact your refrigerator manufacturer.
Do the gaskets (o-rings) on the filters need to be lubricated?
- Most water filters come with pre-lubricated O-rings
- If you are having trouble installing the filter, we have found that a small amount of vegetable oil applied to the O-ring will ease installation and removal of the filter.
I just installed my filter; do I need to run water through it before I drink the water? If so, how much?
- You should run 3 gallons of water through your filter in order to flush it and make sure that it is thoroughly wet. Do not run the 3 gallons continuously, instead run the water for a few minutes and stop in between. Get a gallon water container, and pour and refill 3 times!
