1.Turn Off the ice maker and remove the filter by pushing on the end/face of the filter.
2.Slide the old water filter cartridge straight out of the housing and discard it.
3.Unpackage the new filter cartridge. Using the alignment guide, slide it gently into the filter housing until it stops against the snap-in connector at the back of the housing.
4.Turn the filter clockwise until it locks into the housing.
NOTE: If the filter is not correctly locked into the housing, the water dispenser will not operate.
Water will not flow from the dispenser.
5.Push firmly until the cartridge snaps into place
(you should hear a click as the cartridge engages the snap-in connector).
6.Run water from the dispenser for 5 minutes at.5 gpm (about 2½ gallons) to clear the system and prevent sputtering.
NOTE: Initial rate may be slower than expected. Full rate should be restored within 24-36 hours
7.Reset the “replace filter" light, if needed, by holding the reset button for three seconds.

The GE Smart Water MWF works very well. The Clatterans price was better than what we have been spending at our local home supply store

This fit our refrigerator exactly, and the quality of water seems every bit as
good, but it wasn't as expensive as the GE filters. I'm very pleased with these
water filters and will probably reorder when these are used up.

So far I have only had the new filter – GE MWF installed for 2 days. The filter coupler although designed a little differently installed very easily without leaking. At this point I would recommend them as a more cost effective replacement filter.

It fits just like it said. I don't have any idea how long it will last. I just
bought this frig in May of this year that GE filter only lasted 5 months. So if
this does the same. I will be very happy. And reordering soon. It's a good
value about and good deal

Tried this off-brand of filters for my fridge and so far the first filter from Clatterans has
worked exactly the same as the GE brand filters. Good cost savings!

EXCELLENT VALUE!! THESE KENMORE FILTERS ARE WONDERFUL....EASY TO INSTALL AND I WOULD
ADVISE ANYONE TO BUY THESE
OVER ORDERING FROM ANYWHERE ELSE....LOVE THEM!
How often should you replace your water filter?
- On average, most filters last 6 months or 300 gallons depending on your water quality and usage.
How do I turn off my filter light to reset?
- If the filter light will not reset after following specific instructions from your owner manual, contact your refrigerator manufacturer.
Do the gaskets (o-rings) on the filters need to be lubricated?
- Most water filters come with pre-lubricated O-rings
- If you are having trouble installing the filter, we have found that a small amount of vegetable oil applied to the O-ring will ease installation and removal of the filter.
I just installed my filter; do I need to run water through it before I drink the water? If so, how much?
- You should run 3 gallons of water through your filter in order to flush it and make sure that it is thoroughly wet. Do not run the 3 gallons continuously, instead run the water for a few minutes and stop in between. Get a gallon water container, and pour and refill 3 times!
