REMOVE
1. Locate your existing filter. Remove the old filter from the filter mount by turning it counterclockwise as shown in the picture.
PREPARE
2. Carefully remove the plug on top of the new filter (twisting it back and forth eases the plug out). Be careful not to remove the o-ring located under the plug.
3. Check that the o-ring is seated evenly on top of the filter. The o-ring is required for a proper seal to the filter mount.
4. Your new filter is designed slightly different from the original filter it replaces. It has a notch on the top edge (see picture) and the o-ring inside the top. When the filter is placed in the filter mount it may require more effort to turn the filter because of the o-ring.
INSTALL
5. Place the top of the new filter into the refrigerator filter mount. Be sure that the START arrow on the filter label is aligned with arrow on the filter mount.
6. Twist the filter clockwise until the STOP arrow on the label is aligned with the arrow on the mount. The arrows must be aligned to activate the water valve located inside the filter mount. If the valve is not fully activated the water flow will be slower than normal. In some instances the partially activated valve may cause a "chattering" noise in the water line.
7. Check the water flow by filling a glass from the refrigerator water dispenser. If the water flow is slow or there is"chattering remove and reinstall the filter making sure it is seated securely and the arrows are aligned. Check again.
NOTE: Initial flow rate may be slower than expected
Full flow rate should be restored within 24-36 hours.
FLUSH
8. Run water from the dispenser for 5 minutes at .5 gpm (about 2% gallons) to clear the system and prevent sputtering.
9. Check the filter for any leaks. Inspect the mount area and filter bottom for any sign of moisture.
COMPLETE
10.Reset the "replace filter" light if needed, by holding the reset button for three seconds.
11. Attach the included date label according to label instructions.
12. Replace filter every six months for best results.

This GE MWF filter fits our frig and installed in seconds. This has a horizontal
locking ring that at first I thought it's not going to fit. Most filters have a
circular locking ring which sometimes makes them hard to install trying to find
the right alignment. These install easily.

Great quality and a price that can't be beat. Cannot tell any difference in
water taste over the GE oem filters that cost as much as three of these. Super
fast shipping and great quality.

I have been using these filters in my refrigerator and they are the same as GE
factory except 1/3 the cost. Great product and easy to install

I was really skeptical about purchasing this GE GWF since it's not OEM. And it's inexpensive. But I ordered it anyway. Figured I'd give it a shot. I'm pleasantly surprised. Despite having a different top thread than the OEM filter, it still fits perfectly and works fine with no leaks (24 hours using at this point- I'll update if anything changes). I ran a little water into it, as per instruction before connecting it to the fridge, and then dispensed the recommended gallons of water from the fridge before drinking. No aftertaste, no plastic taste, water seems great.

Seems to work fine. Replaced my brand name - GE filter. Good instructions. Good
packaging. Cannot really say how well it filters without doing a chemical
analysis but it seems to be doing what it is supposed to.

I bought this MWF filter for our GE refrigerator. The filter was very easy to
install and they put a mark on it indicating where
to start when screwing it into the receptacle.
The flow from this filter is very good. After installing it I ran about 1
gallon of water through the filter to ensure it was clear of any
chemicals/impurities related to production. This item also comes with directions but it did not have stickers that can be used to show when you install
it and help you remember when to re-order (It is pretty good if your refrigerator does have an automatic alert when filter needs to be replaced).
The price point on this filter was about the best that I was able to find and
I will be re-ordering from Clatterans in the future.
How often should you replace your water filter?
- On average, most filters last 6 months or 300 gallons depending on your water quality and usage.
How do I turn off my filter light to reset?
- If the filter light will not reset after following specific instructions from your owner manual, contact your refrigerator manufacturer.
Do the gaskets (o-rings) on the filters need to be lubricated?
- Most water filters come with pre-lubricated O-rings
- If you are having trouble installing the filter, we have found that a small amount of vegetable oil applied to the O-ring will ease installation and removal of the filter.
I just installed my filter; do I need to run water through it before I drink the water? If so, how much?
- You should run 3 gallons of water through your filter in order to flush it and make sure that it is thoroughly wet. Do not run the 3 gallons continuously, instead run the water for a few minutes and stop in between. Get a gallon water container, and pour and refill 3 times!
