1. Locate the filter cartridge holder in the back upper right hand corner of the refrigerator. To open the cartridge cover, where indicated, push in and the cover will drop down
2. Remove the old filter by slowly rotating it to the left. A small amount of water may drip down
3. Remove the red protective plug from the end of the new cartridg
4. Position the cartridge inside the cartridge holder. Slowly rotate the cartridge to the right until it stops. When the cartridge is properly installed, you will feel it “click” as it locks into place. The blade on the end of the cartridge should be positioned vertically. Do not overtighten
5. Close the cartridge cover.
6. Run water from the dispenser for 5 minutes (approximately 3 gallons) to clear the system and prevent air from entering the system
7. Locate the included Water Filter Replacement Calendar. Place the dark circle over the month that you installed your new filter. The light circle will indicate your tentative next replacement month. (This cycle can vary with water conditions and frequency of use).

The Whirlpool filter 4 fits our refrigerator, work fine and we have no problems with installing it. It gives us extra confidence in the water we drink since we have a well. Does a great job for us as a filter. Only a little pricey.

Good fit and no other filter comes close to removing all the things this does. Likely you don't have all those things in your water, but for something I change once a year and my whole family drinks from it, why not get this?

I had a cheaper filter before and it didn't seat properly and made horrible noise when water was dispensed or the ice maker filled. But this filter fits and works perfectly. Pleasant shopping from Clatterans.

Yeah! The water has a smelly taste before. The Clatterans Whirlpool Refrigerator water filter fixes that. Our water tastes better than ever. We tried cheap ones in the past and they were awful. It's worth the money.

Much better water flow than the less expensive brand. Used on our Maytag. Helps to soak it in a pitcher of water to saturate the filter before installing. Only hesitation is the price. Glad I bought it.

I tried to cheap out with other Whirlpool filters made in China and the water tasted weird and stopped flowing. I now only use the filter 4 from Clatterans for better taste and reliability.
How often should you replace your water filter?
- On average, most filters last 6 months or 300 gallons depending on your water quality and usage.
How do I turn off my filter light to reset?
- If the filter light will not reset after following specific instructions from your owner manual, contact your refrigerator manufacturer.
Do the gaskets (o-rings) on the filters need to be lubricated?
- Most water filters come with pre-lubricated O-rings
- If you are having trouble installing the filter, we have found that a small amount of vegetable oil applied to the O-ring will ease installation and removal of the filter.
I just installed my filter; do I need to run water through it before I drink the water? If so, how much?
- You should run 3 gallons of water through your filter in order to flush it and make sure that it is thoroughly wet. Do not run the 3 gallons continuously, instead run the water for a few minutes and stop in between. Get a gallon water container, and pour and refill 3 times!
