1. Locate the filter cartridge holder in the back upper right hand corner of the refrigerator. To open the cartridge cover, where indicated, push in and the cover will drop down
2. Remove the old filter by slowly rotating it to the left. A small amount of water may drip down
3. Remove the red protective plug from the end of the new cartridg
4. Position the cartridge inside the cartridge holder. Slowly rotate the cartridge to the right until it stops. When the cartridge is properly installed, you will feel it “click” as it locks into place. The blade on the end of the cartridge should be positioned vertically. Do not overtighten
5. Close the cartridge cover.
6. Run water from the dispenser for 5 minutes (approximately 3 gallons) to clear the system and prevent air from entering the system
7. Locate the included Water Filter Replacement Calendar. Place the dark circle over the month that you installed your new filter. The light circle will indicate your tentative next replacement month. (This cycle can vary with water conditions and frequency of use).

This filter is the first refrigerator filter I've found that allows me to actually drink the water from my fridge instead of needing a separate filtered pitcher. I'm so impressed with this filter, it's the only one I'll be buying from now on.

This is a must buy. I got the imitation ones and the water got nasty. The ice was small with imitation cheaper ones. This one seems to be great so far.

Good clean water. Worth the extra price for better tasting water. Have tried the less expense versions and they just don't handle cleaning the water in my area.

I was expecting to have some air in the line, while I flushed it so that was not unusual. But at first, after I flushed it, the water would start and stop. That doesn't happen anymore. Water comes out in a steady stream without stopping. I'm happy with my purchase.

At first we did not want to purchase this recommended product as we wanted to save a few bucks, so we purchased a cheap generic brand. Bad choice! Eventually our water started to smell funny. Once again I learned that it is better to pay a little bit more for the better product. We have had no problems since replacing the generic filter with this Whirlpool filter from Clatterans!
How often should you replace your water filter?
- On average, most filters last 6 months or 300 gallons depending on your water quality and usage.
How do I turn off my filter light to reset?
- If the filter light will not reset after following specific instructions from your owner manual, contact your refrigerator manufacturer.
Do the gaskets (o-rings) on the filters need to be lubricated?
- Most water filters come with pre-lubricated O-rings
- If you are having trouble installing the filter, we have found that a small amount of vegetable oil applied to the O-ring will ease installation and removal of the filter.
I just installed my filter; do I need to run water through it before I drink the water? If so, how much?
- You should run 3 gallons of water through your filter in order to flush it and make sure that it is thoroughly wet. Do not run the 3 gallons continuously, instead run the water for a few minutes and stop in between. Get a gallon water container, and pour and refill 3 times!
