1. Locate the water filter in the top-right corner of the refrigerator compartment and open the cover door. The filter will be released and then be ejected as the door is opened.
2. When the door is completely open, pull the filter straight out.
NOTE: There may be some water in the filter. Some spilling may occur. Use a towel to wipe up any spills.
3. Take the new filter out of its packaging and remove the covers from the O-rings. Be sure the O-rings are still in place after the covers are removed.
4. With the arrow pointing to the left (toward the filter cover door’s hinge), align the new filter with the filter housing and slide it into place. The filter cover door will automatically begin to close as the new filter is inserted.
5. Close the filter cover door completely in order to snap the filter into place. You may need to press hard.
6. Run water from the dispenser for 5 minutes at .5 gpm (about 2½ gallons) to clear the system and prevent sputtering.
NOTE: Initial rate may be slower than expected. Full rate should be restored within 24-36 hour
7. Reset the “replace filter” light, if needed, by holding the reset button for three seconds.

Met my needs and saved a few dollars over the cost at local big box store which sells appliances.

The quality is excellent, and the cost is much more reasonable than the original equipment replacement. One hint from an ex-appliance salesman: On MOST refrigerators, the filter change indicator is simply a timer that one resets after filter replacement. They are generally set to alert at about six months, whether you have run 1 or 1000 gallons through them.
Another method: if you are filtering chlorinated water, replace when you start to smell/taste the chlorine again. Hope this helps! :)

Good filters for my Whirlpool fridge. Worked good. A friend's filter was making loud sounds though. Wondering why it worked for one but not all!

I didn't want to spend the extra money on this higher end filter, but I thought I would give it a try. I must say the water does come out much cleaner and faster! After you install the filter you are supposed to run it a few times before you can drink it. On my previous cheaper filter the water keeps coming out a bit cloudy until about the 6th time you run it. With this filter after the 2nd turn it was already looking clear, but because of using the other filter for so long I went ahead and ran it 5 times just incase. The water does taste cleaner and always looks clear. I feel better knowing that for a few more bucks I can get something safer for my family and myself. At least the drinking water is super clean!

Quality filter with good specs but a little pricey. Never a problem replacing old filter. Filter and our fridge are not fast fill but meets our needs.
How often should you replace your water filter?
- On average, most filters last 6 months or 300 gallons depending on your water quality and usage.
How do I turn off my filter light to reset?
- If the filter light will not reset after following specific instructions from your owner manual, contact your refrigerator manufacturer.
Do the gaskets (o-rings) on the filters need to be lubricated?
- Most water filters come with pre-lubricated O-rings
- If you are having trouble installing the filter, we have found that a small amount of vegetable oil applied to the O-ring will ease installation and removal of the filter.
I just installed my filter; do I need to run water through it before I drink the water? If so, how much?
- You should run 3 gallons of water through your filter in order to flush it and make sure that it is thoroughly wet. Do not run the 3 gallons continuously, instead run the water for a few minutes and stop in between. Get a gallon water container, and pour and refill 3 times!
